SUMMARY:ArtSpaceEast presents FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE
DESCRIPTION:Much of the art created at Tinkertown is hand carved wood SCULPTURE and the setting was constructed to fit the characters. Participants will use an 8” mannequin covered in an air-dry clay to sculpt a character from your family\, your experiences or your travels. For those of us who love the third dimension\, this workshop is for you.  Workshop includes materials\, snacks and a tour of Ross Ward’s private studio. \nCost:$ 75.00 \nInstructor Beth Kassay holds degrees in printmaking and painting from Alfred University and in Education from the University of New Mexico. SUMMARY:Multi-Media Workshop with Rachel Popowcer & Tanya Ward Goodman
DESCRIPTION:Turn your memories into visual art in this multi-medium workshop with artist\, Rachel Popowcer\, and writer\, Tanya Ward Goodman. \nFollowing a “behind the scenes” tour of Tinkertown Museum\, the workshop begins on the page with writing prompts and exercises designed to open a portal to the past. As we shift to a hands-on project\, we will use a variety of mediums\, including ink resist\, watercolor\, and collage\, to create pieces centered around the interpretation of memory and the construction of a visual narrative. All skill levels are encouraged and welcome! \nThe instructor will supply materials\, but students are encouraged to bring personal photos and ephemera to use as inspiration or to incorporate into the work. You are also welcome to bring art supplies such as watercolor\, acrylic paint\, rubber cement\, black India ink\, colored pencils\, and tracing paper. \nREGISTER HERE\n  \nRachel Popowcer is an Albuquerque-based mixed media oil painter and photographer. She holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from UNM. Rachel currently teaches Art Studio courses at CNM and has taught with the UNM Art Department\, UNM’s Continuing Education Program\, The New Mexico Cancer Center\, The New Mexico Art League\, and other community programs. In addition to her studio practice\, Rachel has curated multiple exhibitions for the CNM Art Gallery\, including WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN HERE\, a showcase of LGBTQ+ artists that reflects her commitment to representation and community dialogue. She was recently (October 2025) the Artist-in-Residence for the Paseo Project in Taos and is currently developing new bodies of work that continue her study of transformation\, memory\, and collective connection. \nTanya Ward Goodman grew up at Tinkertown Museum\, an experience she chronicled in her award-winning memoir\, “Leaving Tinkertown\,” (University of New Mexico Press.) She is a proud inheritor of her dad’s curiosity and creativity. Her essays and articles relating to art\, travel\, caregiving\, and memoir\, have appeared in numerous publications including the Washington Post\, the Los Angeles Times\, Luxe\, Orange County Register\, Huffington Post\, Variable West\, Los Angeles Review of Books\, and listed as notable in the 2019 Best American Science and Nature Writing.

SUMMARY:Poetry Reading and Conversation with Award Winning Poets Elizabeth Cohena and Alicia Elkort

Reserve your seat HERE.\nJoin us in the courtyard of Tinkertown Museum for a conversation and reading with poets Alicia Elkort and Elizabeth Cohen.  \nBooks will be available for sale. \nAlicia Elkort returned to New Mexico\, the place of her birth\, in 2020\, after working for many years in the entertainment biz\, in finance. Her first book\, “A Map of Every Undoing” won the 2022 George Mason University Stillhouse Press Award. Her chapbook “Disturb the Bones\,” was published in 2025 with Dancing Girl Press. Her third book of poetry\, “Bitterroot\,” published in 2026\, won the Two Sylvias Press Wilder Book Prize. Alicia’s poetry has been nominated several times for the Pushcart\, Best of the Net\, and the Orison Anthology\, and her work appears in numerous journals and anthologies. To return the favor\, she reads for Tinderbox Poetry Journal where she also writes reviews. She is former editor of Saranac Review and professor of English at SUNY Plattsburgh. The the author of ten books\, including the memoir The Family on Beartown Road\, a collection of short stories\, The Hypothetical Girl\, Cohen is also co-author with Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord of The Scalpel and the Silver Bear\, a collection of medical essays. She has published seven books of poetry\, most recently Mermaids of Albuquerque (Saint Julian Press). She works today as editorial director of Mnemosyne Books\, a women’s memoir press.

DESCRIPTION:RELIEF PRINTMAKING: Ross Ward was\, not surprisingly\, a prolific printmaker. Many of his woodcuts and etchings are part of the permanent collection at Tinkertown. Participants will create a relief print using an easy-cut 6 X 8 plate to carve an image into. Prints will be pulled on quality printing paper.
